Quick pasta sauce

Ingredients

  • Half an onion
  • 1 carton tomato passata
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 200g ham/bacon/guanciale
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Method

  • Heat a little olive oil in a pan or pot
  • Dice the meat very finely and add it to the pan. Cook uintil the meat is getting crispy
  • Dice the onion very finely and addit to the pan. Cook until the onion is translucent
  • Dice the garlic very finely or grate it using a small cheese grater. Add to the pan and cook until fragrant, about a minute
  • Add the carton of tomato passata, a small amount of water, mix to combine and cook for 15 minutes on the lowest heat
  • Add your favourite pasta and enjoy

Tips

Everything is available in the usual supermarkets

If you’re using guanciale, you don’t need to start with olive oil in the pan as guanciale is very fatty. Just start the guanciale in a cold pan to give the fat time to melt and render, rather than burn.
