Managing your finances

It’s time you get familiarised with Money Saving Expert and Save The Student. Many of us weren’t taught about money management, budgeting, credit scores, and other financial skills in school. Setting up a bank account?

  1. Monzo and Revolut are the easiest for everyone, including international students! You can set up an account on the app and receive your card in days, as long as you have some proof of ID!
  2. Most banks offer a variety of perks to 1st year students (such as a free railcard from Santander!), when you open an account with them. But to understand which is the best deal please read the most trusted guide from the Money Saving Expert. Note, some of you may be rejected, don’t worry if this happens, it’s usually because students don’t have much of a credit history when the bank checks you. Learn how to build one here.

NHS, Oyster and Railcard

Below we provide more detailed information on how to register to a GP at the NHS (National Health Service). As well as, for an Oyster card and Railcard to use public transport at a discounted price. Please read the information carefully and follow the instructions, to ensure you’re ready for the year ahead.
